Protecting the New Jersey Legislature from a Christie Takeover

November 6, 2013

They’d seen the damage done to public education, students and educators in states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and North Carolina when Republican Governors were left unchecked by Republican legislatures.

With signs pointing to a runaway victory for Gov. Chris Christie, the New Jersey Education Association understood the serious threat posed by a potential Republican takeover of the New Jersey state legislature.

It was an outcome they couldn’t let happen.

So with a strong push that combined paid advertising with a concerted field effort from dedicated member volunteers, NJEA proved a key factor in maintaining strong Democratic majorities in both chambers of the legislature on Election Night 2013.

Chris Christie’s landslide re-election may have been the dominant headline of the evening, but with just one Republican pickup in the Assembly, the Christie coattails proved nonexistent.

And we at The New Media Firm are proud to have helped with NJEA’s successful effort by producing television, cable, radio and online advertising for 24 legislative candidates.
