Oh, What a Night!

The New Media Firm was pleased to play a role in the blue and pink waves that swept across the country Tuesday night by helping Democrats flip the House; electing a number of women to Congress, statewide office and state legislatures; flipping the Maine Senate; and passing several key progressive ballot measures.

Flipping the House

For starters, we’re thrilled at the victory of our client Rashida Tlaib in Michigan’s 13^th District – the first Muslim woman ever elected to Congress, and at the re-election of our client Ben Ray Lujan in New Mexico’s 3^rd District.

And on the evening of November 7th, our client Xochitl Torres Small flipped New Mexico’s 2nd District in a nail-biting victory. Thousands of absentee ballots were counted throughout the day and we are elated that the Democrats were able to pick up another seat in the house.

We’re also proud to have produced television and digital media for independent expenditure campaigns from the DCCC and NARAL that helped elect Democrats in a number of key districts around the country, including:

Helping Power a Pink Wave

This was truly a banner year for progressive women candidates around the country, and The New Media Firm was excited to be a part of it.

In addition to helping elect Rashida Tlaib (MI13), Angie Craig (MN02), Cindy Axne (IA03), Sharice Davids (KS03), Lizzie Pannill Fletcher (TX07) and Abigail Spanberger (VA07) to Congress, we also produced media for client Kathy McGuiness in her winning Auditor campaign in Delaware, and for successful IE campaigns on behalf of Gretchen Whitmer (Michigan Governor), Dana Nessel (Michigan Attorney General), Jocelyn Benson (Michigan Secretary of State), Megan Kathleen Cavanagh (Michigan Supreme Court), and a number of female state legislature candidates in Ohio, Delaware and Maine.

Flipping the Maine Senate

This year, we produced independent expenditure media that helped elect Democratic state legislators in Ohio, Texas, and Delaware, and helped flip the state Senate in Maine.

Passing Progressive Ballot Measures

Last but not least, we stood up for tax fairness by defeating Issue 1 in Florida, and helped legalize marijuana, pass redistricting reform, and enact same day voter registration by passing Proposals 1, 2 and 3 in Michigan.
